For hard areas sometimes it works for me to apply triamcolone heavily for 1 week, and at night, add a layer of Vaseline over top to help draw out time for absorption. Then back off for around 4 days and use tea tree foot cream heavily morning and night on shins. Nighttime applications I slather, absorb, then slather a couple more times. The white spots suck it up faster than the pigmented areas. I'll use a zinc sunblock In the daytime. Bannana boat sensitive skin naturals. It visually evens skin tone after soaking in a minute too. If it itches at any point, put more tea tree lotion. When I started I constantly put it on every itch and after 3 days or so the itching stopped being so intense everywhere. When you shower, use a tea tree and mint or tea tree and rosemary shampoo and conditioner and use the shampoo on your body. I use ogx. Online Walgreens or CVS runs sales on it periodically. Its strong esp if you let it soak a minute. Get evey inch esp ears and behind knees. I rotate the shampoo with a tar based equate brand. It stinks but works well to stop big progression of depigmentation.
After every shower I use the tea tree foot lotion and cover my whole body (az is dry). I use Amazon new York biology tea tree foot cream. Very minty!
If its a low hair area I will use rosemary oil and after a week or so the hairs get more pigmented and the skin can borrow the pigment from the hairs.
I do use Vaseline at night, sometimes over steroids, sometimes over lotions, sometimes just in thin layers to help retention of moisture. At times I will add in black seed oil and about 2x a month I hit up a biotin oil and rosemary oil 15 minute mask. Really super charges skin. Also, I take b12 gummies, a b complex vitsmin a couple times a week, a multimineral a couple times a month: a really good one.
About every 6 weeks I let my skin rest a bit and just use cetaphil lotion. Sometimes in the resting periods I see the most repigmentation. I have also used a thc cream that really seems to help the skin in general. I mix it myself, choosing high thc blends.
With shins, I say rock it! People may wonder but the less you give a +×%^ about it, the less people care. Most people see mine and think its scarring from a motorcycle incident or burns. I find fyi, that triamcolone darkens the skin around it, but clobetasol propionate gel tends to lighten the skin in total so its not as noticeable. You could always do temp tattoos. Lol
Try some different care for the skin but try and not focus on it. Wear those shorts! Lol im pretty sure my legs haven't seen sun in like 10 years. I cook right out in the open in less than 5 minutes all red and purple.
Often, our own views of self are totally different than others' view. The world is different than 10 years back even. You are an appaloosa human? Right on! Makes you unique and a good ice breaker. You wear your shorts and I'll live vicariously through you!

Wow. I didn’t know about tea tree foot cream. I assume it would take some time for it to kick your immune system in gear?

On my shins the only thing that has worked for me is a high concentration tea tree foot cream applied at night. I tried steroids, opzelura too. For some reason tea tree tamps down the immune response there. My skin literally sucks it up.

It's understandable to feel self-conscious about vitiligo patches, especially during summer. While there's no cure for vitiligo, there are several options for coverage that other people have found successful:

• Try mixing different foundation brands together (both high-end and drugstore) on a mixing palette for better coverage
• Set your makeup with powder to prevent cakiness
• Consider using self-tanning products to help match depigmented areas with your natural skin tone
• Experiment with different makeup brands like Dermablend, Fenty, or Covermark that specialize in coverage If makeup isn't providing the coverage you want, some people find success with fashion choices. One MyVitiligoTeam member shared that they wore fashionable patterned clothing during outdoor activities and received compliments on their style rather than questions about their skin.

Remember to always protect your skin when outdoors. Sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher should be applied 20 minutes before sun exposure, as vitiligo patches can burn easily and tanning of surrounding skin can make patches more noticeable.
