Is Vitiligo A Fungus Causing The Discoloration? Has Anyone Else Been Told That It’s Also Associated With Thyroid Disorders?

A MyVitiligoTeam Member asked a question 💭

I was told this by two doctors that Vitiligo is a fungus -I was also told by a dermatologist that is also associated and related to Hypo Thyroidism -Does anyone else have any information on this ? Are both Autoimmune issues too? Any feedback greatly appreciated

Kindly TL

While it may not be a fungus, I have experiened a higher susceptibility to fungal infections on my skin. It makes me wonder if skin biome composition interacts with fungus differently

Vitiligo On Hands

A MyVitiligoTeam Member asked a question 💭

If anyone would be so kind as to answer this question. I know everyone’s spots are different and unique, but was just getting a sense of an idea on what’s going on with my hands. Even though this can be different for everyone, this helps me get a bit calm in understanding how it happened to others, plus I LOVE hearing everyone’s story about how it started with vitiligo. This helps me not feel so alone with this next chapter of vitiligo.

I pray this doesn’t seem intrusive to anyone. So if… read more

Has Anyone After COVID-19 Vaccination Noticed Increase Or Flare Up In Their White Spots?

A MyVitiligoTeam Member asked a question 💭

I got vaccinated in May 2021 with my first dose and by the end of July 2021, I noticed a sudden flare up and rapid progression.
I don't know if it is because of the vaccine because I was on antibiotics for a month in June.
This also raises another question, has anyone noticed increase in their vitiligo post/during the use of antibiotics?

Thank you all in advance.

I never had Vitiligo until I had my second Covid vaccine. It's all over my body. I also have had psoriasis most of my life which is also autoimmune. I'm 72

Yes! I started looking on pinterest and found people that enhanced their face with makeup. Not full face but eyes and lipsticks and it helps!

I Started Using Opzelura. Curious If Anyone Else Is Using It? How Long Have You Used It And Have You Seen Any Results?

A MyVitiligoTeam Member asked a question 💭

I have been using it for two months now. I apply it two times a day. I also do light treatments for some areas. I was hoping others could share their expereinces.

A MyVitiligoTeam Member

I am using daily. 2x a day. It has helped the eyebrows a lot since this post, but my cheeks continue to see depigmentation in areas of application. What light do you use?

A MyVitiligoTeam Member asked a question 💭

I was using Tacrolimus and later Opzelura for eczema only. I wasn’t concerned about doing anything for my vitiligo, but both conditions have some commonalities. Once it was time to stop these… read more
