Long Island, NY

I’m looking for a dermatologist who is well versed in Vitiligo and treatment options. The dermatologist should be in the NY area, preferably Long Island NY but would travel to NYC. Needs to be either a pediatric derm or a derm who has a good bedside manner that can work with a child. Does anyone have any recommendations?

Looking for a pediatric dermatologist experienced with vitiligo in the NY area?

While I don't have specific dermatologist recommendations for Long Island or NYC in the information available, there are several ways to find a qualified specialist for your child:

Finding the right doctor:
- Look for dermatologists who specialize in pigmentation disorders or have specific vitiligo expertise
- Ask about their experience treating children with vitiligo during your initial consultation
- Inquire whether they're familiar with newer treatment options that have been approved in recent years

What to look for:
A good dermatologist for your child should be able to explain treatment options clearly, track progress over time with follow-up appointments, and demonstrate exactly how to apply topical treatments if prescribed.

Important note about treatment:
Keep in mind that topical treatments often take several months to show results, so patience and consistent follow-up care are key. Using treatments exactly as directed gives the best chance of success.

You might also consider reaching out to other members on MyVitiligoTeam who live in the NY area—they may have personal recommendations based on their own experiences with local dermatologists who work well with children.
