Living with full-body vitiligo for nearly 50 years is quite a journey, and it's understandable to feel like options are limited. But there are still some paths worth exploring!

When vitiligo covers most of the body, the treatment goal often shifts. Rather than trying to restore pigment, some people explore depigmentation — evening out the remaining pigmented areas to create a more uniform appearance. Options can include:

- Topical phenol solution (applied by a healthcare provider)
- Cryotherapy (liquid nitrogen)
- Laser treatments Protecting your skin is also really important. Skin with little or no pigment is more vulnerable to sun damage, so daily sunscreen, protective clothing, and regular skin cancer checks are strongly recommended.

Some people with full-body vitiligo also choose not to pursue treatment at all — and that's completely valid too. Focusing on education, self-acceptance, and sun protection can be just as meaningful a path forward.

Either way, a dermatologist who specializes in vitiligo can help figure out what makes the most sense for your specific situation.
