I was told this by two doctors that Vitiligo is a fungus -I was also told by a dermatologist that is also associated and related to Hypo Thyroidism -Does anyone else have any information on this ? Are both Autoimmune issues too? Any feedback greatly appreciated

Last summer, when I went swimming at my pool where I live, I forgot to/didnt put sun screen lotion on my face and the vitiligo suddenly appeared and spread all over my face, oh my god. My question is, I absolutely love going swimming, should I stop going to the pool from now on? If I put a 55+ sunscrean lotion on my face and body, can I still go to the pool? So true first world problem....as part of a performance award in my corporate role, will get to go to a resort in Mexico. I ought to be thrilled. Yet, my anxiety over how to not be "the weird one" and avoid the sun on the beach while trying to be part of the group has me a bit stressed. Self imposed anxiety, right? Maybe if someone is staring its not your skin but your pretty smile? I don't give it any attention either way.
