I’ve seen so many charts and read conflicting information about these two types. Thank everyone who is willing to answer or know the answer to this question.

Members shared their personal experiences with vitiligo subtypes after someone asked about the difference between acrofacial and generalized vitiligo, with several describing confusion over conflicting diagnoses from different dermatologists. Many members noted a distinctive pattern where vitiligo spots appeared symmetrically on both sides of their body like twins, though the timing and exact locations sometimes varied slightly between sides. A recurring theme was frustration with inconsistent medical explanations and the unpredictable nature of the condition, yet members remained supportive and encouraged each other to embrace confidence as warmer weather approaches.

Ay ay ay, vitiligo is vitiligo is vitiligo 😊 Sping, warm weather time. Time to get our confidence back, wear short sleaves, summer 👗, shorts! We can do this!

Well I’m confused as usual…AGAIN! ONE of my dermatologist just informed me last week that I’m considered localized or focal (still don’t understand that one), yet a prior doctor said since I have twins then it’s non-segmental generalized (acrofacial). That’s why I decided to stop asking questions from the supposedly professionals. I feel like this is like a box of chocolates, I never know what I’m going to get from a doctor.

Hi Vitipower, I like your name here. I find no ryme or reason to vitiligo. I'm 64, it's been spreading since my earliest memories. Now and again I will find areas gaining pigment. Yesterday I recognized the dark spot spreading on my eyelid. God's sense of humor? Just when I thought my face would some day be one color, nope! Namaste'

Well mine is generalized but the weird thing is whatever happens on one side of my body the other side has the same reaction and location

I definitely have generalized as it's spread all over, no area has been safe.

It seems the other is limited to mostly the face? Genitals
