From my interview with Dr. John Harris a couple years ago - and in subsequent presentations at World Vitiligo Day last year - the doctors confirmed that Opzelura is a drug you have to take consistently (to keep reminding your immune system not to attack your melanocytes!). My understanding from talking with different researchers is that if you were to go off of the drug it may maintain it's benefit for several months but eventually you'd need to go back on it. There is an additional therapy in development focused on the "memory T cells" which researchers hope will make therapies more permanent without have to take it forever. Many thanks for your quick response, Eric....I haven't been able to find info on this anywhere. Just a quick follow up question: When you say Opzelura is a drug you have to "take" it sounds like you might be talking about the oral form. I am wondering about the topical form. Do you know if you need to apply that indefinitely as well? (We're using it on our son and would be worried about consequences of long term use). Best wishes.
