World Vitiligo Day-USA 2023

Posted on August 24, 2023

Since its founding in 2011, World Vitiligo Day has become a global event with the purpose of raising awareness of vitiligo. In the U.S., World Vitiligo Day now spans an entire weekend in which people with vitiligo come together to connect, celebrate, and learn more about their condition. This year, over 250 members of the vitiligo community gathered together in Atlanta, Georgia, from June 23 through 25.

Check out the recap of this year's event below, and check MyVitiligoTeam for updates about World Vitiligo Day-USA 2024 — coming soon!

This is the World Vitiligo Day Conference here in Atlanta. We're having such a great time.

00:00:14:03 - 00:00:21:06

Dr. Amit Pandya

Right here, we have 250 people who are all part of the vitiligo community helping each other, encouraging each other.

00:00:21:13 - 00:00:30:27

Sharon King

Hey, guys. Litty Ligo here. This is my first conference, and it is wonderful. We are having such a great time. We have such wonderful speakers. We have great activities for the kids.

00:00:30:27 - 00:00:37:03

Dr. Amit Pandya

We're not just thinking locally or nationally. We're thinking internationally to try to advocate for more research.

00:00:37:06 - 00:00:45:16

Dr. John Harris

We've been studying vitiligo actually for six years together. We're going to learn about genetics, environmental exposures, inflammation. We think they all communicate together.

00:00:45:16 - 00:00:51:29

Dr. Khaled Ezzedine

I am here in Atlanta to make sure that we are hearing patient voices, which is for me the most important thing.

00:00:52:02 - 00:01:00:00

Dr. Amit Pandya

And that's what the Global Vitiligo Foundation is all about, trying to empower people and embrace them, so that they feel like they're part of a family.

00:01:00:17 - 00:01:05:17

Sharon King

It's just wonderful to be around so many members of our beautiful, lovely community.

00:01:05:27 - 00:01:10:17

Mark Braxton

Because we are one big family. Y'all take care. Peace.

In partnership with the Global Vitiligo Foundation, which strives to improve the quality of life for individuals with vitiligo through education, research, clinical care, and community support.
