I was told this by two doctors that Vitiligo is a fungus -I was also told by a dermatologist that is also associated and related to Hypo Thyroidism -Does anyone else have any information on this ? Are both Autoimmune issues too? Any feedback greatly appreciated
Kindly TL
While it may not be a fungus, I have experiened a higher susceptibility to fungal infections on my skin. It makes me wonder if skin biome composition interacts with fungus differently

I’m wondering what other conditions people got after being diagnosed with vitiligo. Or before for that matter. I’ve seen some discussions of psoriasis. What other conditions did you get? Did they come before or after the vitiligo?
Overnight?? Wow. Hang in there dear sis.
My daughter used to drink so much milk, like 3 cups a day with honey, then vitiligo started. She has the gene, also. Now she is 3, and she started vitiligo for 6 months.
Yes as with any autoimmune disorder, the gut microbiome is super important. My child is also 3 and we are cutting gluten and dairy completely to help her heal, also working with a nutritional… read more

Robyn2 great to here this news of your purchasing antihistamine to control your problem with scratching. 😃
Yes!! I also often got mistaken for being way younger than I actually was BEFORE vitiligo

If anyone would be so kind as to answer this question. I know everyone’s spots are different and unique, but was just getting a sense of an idea on what’s going on with my hands. Even though this can be different for everyone, this helps me get a bit calm in understanding how it happened to others, plus I LOVE hearing everyone’s story about how it started with vitiligo. This helps me not feel so alone with this next chapter of vitiligo.
I pray this doesn’t seem intrusive to anyone. So if… read more

I was just diagnosed with V last week after having the pigmentation problem for a probably 5 or so years. Earlier this year, I requested a full thyroid panel because I was experiencing hypothyroid-esque symptoms. The only thing to come back abnormal (and it was very mild) was my T3. It was low. Therefore, they diagnosed me with Euthyroid Sick Syndrome. I’ve been taking 10mcg of Cytomel and have since felt better
Fast forward to this last week. The Dermatologist (first one I’ve ever seen) tells… read more
But I do notice that psoriasis seems to get more attention regarding pamphlets and mentions compared to vitiligo which makes you feel more like a freak with this secret hushed not high profile issue.
I’ve had vitiligo for 51 years and my skin is all white. Now I’m starting to get brown spots on my face and arms. I went to the dermatologist and she said it was my brown skin coming back! 😳 Wow!
It finally took me all theses years to turn all white and now my skin wants to be brown again! I just can’t catch a break. I’ve used skin bleach but want to use a natural way to fade the brown spots any suggestions appreciated. Thank you.
